Last night I was notified that a national group will help and hand out flyers all over the nation for us. They will go to the dialysis units and hand them out to the patients across the nation .<
><
>I need to know the website address of dialysis campare that has a list of all the dialysis units across the United States. This way the patients will know about us and that they have choices and are not alone and there is help. Plus our articles and film will be out soon, and the more exposure that we have in the clinics, the more will be forth coming to tell even more stories. We want no more Kathys and Davids to go with no voice.<
><
>Sooooo! What is it that you want on these new flyers to be distributed? It will be put on this site and they can down load them in their areas to hand out. <
><
>It is now a time of action and to use the most of the forward momentum,as we now are in a position to get the word out in a national way.<
><
>We have "dialysisethics" volunteers in many states, and will be asking for more volunteers,as complaints will stream in. This is your time to help your fellow patient and to advocate on their behalf. <
><
>This is an organization and board that has wanted to make a difference and to change the existing laws in this field of medicine. We are having the articles coming out in a couple of months and the film. We are ready to get the word out.We have done the hearings, had our politicians do nothing more than microphone babble, and allow conditions in many units to go on.<
><
>It has been five years since we started, and realize that the promises never were meant to happen. It is up to us to make the noise and to DEMAND change for our patients. This includes the self-policing of the industry that needs to stop,as does the governments sanctioning this nonprofit private organization.ESRD NETWORK! It needs to realize that is hasnt worked, and they clearly havent done the job. Patients need a neutral and fairer system to complain too.<
><
>Patients need to know their rights and that they have a choice in whether or not to use re-use. It is to be offered to every patient. We are going to ask Minntech once again to put their claims in writing, and not just claiming they will, and skirting the issue of whether it is safe or not. This way we can send their side, that their side will be presented. It is clearly their choice,as I believe this chemical needs to go!<
><
>They will be sent a certified letter stating that they claim the chemical is safe, and we will be including that document of theirs (that we have been waiting for a long time) with our concerns of this chemical. We will be including the letter from the FDA to Minntech stating that it is only cleared, and is not FDA approved. To state otherwise is against the law, in other words they cannot claim it is FDA APPROVED! <
><
>We will be contacting the CEO's of all the corporations and will be expressing our concerns and will be including the letter to Minntech from the FDA stating that it is only cleared and not Approved,as well as Minntechs letter if they so chose to give one this time. This leaves the liability to the companies,as we are letting them know that we are concerned for the safety of our patients and workers across the United States. If this chemical has harmed anyone, the veil of corporation is what we are going after. It will be the CEO's responsibility of all the companies. This is fair to Minntech,it is clearly their choice, and the CEO's can have the opportunity to see if it is worth a chance or to freely use it,once they are aware.<
><
>So get the creative juices going and come up with a flyer that will say what you want. Choices, Rights and Quality of care. We have a lot of friends in high places that are helping us out. It is do able and we have fought hard to be in this situation. We now can get this out nationwide and help those who are helpless.<

articles and film that's coming out?<
><
>I am glad a way has been found to get the flyers into the dialysis units. I have long wanted this to occur, but knew the patients themselves could not do it without retaliation. It needed to be an independent group of some kind and that is what we now have.<
><
>As far as what to write for the flyer, for one thing, most patients feel very threatened by dialysis staff, most are not the type to stand up for themselves and many are not big into dialysis/advocacy terminology. So, I feel the language of the flyer must be very clear so that anyone can understand it and feel that is safe to contact DE. The units have such a stronghold over patients' lives that it's comparable to the Battered Women's Syndrome - the door may be open, but patients are afraid to venture out to safety.<
><
>Also the flyer should state what DE is prepared to do for patients, because patients are going to think, "What good will it do for me to contact this organization..what can they actually do for me?".

"Like me, you could.....be unfortunate enough to stumble upon a silent war. The trouble is that once you see it, you can't unsee it. And once you've seen it, keeping quiet, saying nothing, becomes as political an act as speaking out. Either way, you're accountable."

Arundhati Roy
