Hi everyone! I decided to mosey on over from the dialysis online board. If nothing else, I'm a fighter, and I am not ashamed to admit that I am a PROUD LIBERAL and desperately want governmental CHANGE!! That said, I am ready to help out in any way I can. Even though it looks like I will likely receive my transplant very soon, I intend to continue to fight for dialysis reform. It is sorely needed. Glad to be here and will definitely join in the discussions!<
><
>Peace.

Hello "Hi," I'm for what's right, too, which is why I'm a liberal. But seriously, you're right, we do need help from all sides, but unfortunately, the conservative right usually supports smaller government and less governmental, especially national, regulations for anything. They (Bush, et al) are also staunchly against stem cell research, which would definitely impact (albeit decrease the need) the dialysis industry. I think you will be hard pressed in finding any right wing legislature to support anything that will cut into the dialysis big interests. I'd love for them to prove me wrong. Yep, I'm betting on the "good old bleeding heart liberals" to be the ones we can count on in our corner. Time will tell.

Hi LuLu, Glad you mosied on over lol I don't label, just want to get the job done. Never declared a party either! Liberal, conservative, makes no difference to me, as long as they get off their duffs and do something; maybe we should take bets on which side will get the job done; that will make it a bit more interesting <
>Hope you stick around; lots of work to be done, and from reading your posts (on dialysis on-line) think you have what it takes to help. Lin.

You know, the party lines aren't nearly as distinct today as they used to be. Most of our views vary from issue to issue, and I think that's a good thing. I guess I just resent how the word liberal has somehow been demonized in today's society. Unfortunately, I think the downslide was
ought on by the abortion issue. I mean, just look at the words, liberals were dubbed pro choice, conservatives called pro life, signifying that if you were liberal you were anti-life and pro-abortion. Everything has gone downhill from there, and that's a shame. I mean, it used to be a good thing to want to help people and to impose more on and demand more from our government but today it's become taboo. I know is important to a government, however in the somewhere along the way in the U.S. it's become more important than our citizens. That's not a good thing. We need to take things back. In modern times, the liberals have been the ones to impose change in the areas of civil rights, equal rights for women, education reform, etc. I'd love to see the other side start taking a stand in these areas.
