--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It appears that another dismissal is happening in Texarkana. <
>This patient feels as if she has been harassed and punished for helping a fellow patient. She never lost her cool and they forced her to take off sunglasses due to the fact that administration forced the staff to demand her sunglass at that moment. She was told that it was a safety issue, but others were sporting theres. First they tried to take her off non reuse and she didnt. When she got outside after the sunglass situation a policeman happened to be sitting in the parking lot. Could be coincidence.<
>The ESRD Network it appears gave them sensitivity training not too long ago. We are asking and documenting this case and will be asking for volunteers to go to Texarkana soon with the National Action Network.<
>This is one of the kindest women I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She is devistated and asks for your prayers. <
>We have the press involved if necessary and Rev. Sharptons group will get back to us. It saddens me that a patient that is non violent, is treated with no respect and more so no rights under the law.<
>We will be furnishing an attorney if it comes to that. Hopefully they will realize that this is a human life and they have a responsibility. When you take Federal dollars, you sometimes work with those you are angry with and dont like. Not to dismiss them because they feel they can. <
>This clinic has threatened me, and are the nastiest group I personally ever dealt with. They can do what is right, or challenge us.We have many people working on this from the press to CMS...lets see if they will side with the patient and more than sensitivity training.<

This is why the ESRD networks do not have a place in the dialysis environment anymore. To take a patrolman off of the beat for ESRD Sensitivity training is a farce. Staff of dialysis unit should be held accountable for there actions just as any other citizen should. Why are they above and beyond the law?

To the patient in Texarkana,<

>I've met some of the people with DE, and they impressed me as some of the most honest and forthright people I've ever met. If anybody can help get you through this, they can.<
><
>I can't imagine what you are going through, but I hope you can find the calm and peace of mind you need to endure. An attack on one, feels like an attack on all. So know that we are all thinking and praying for you!

We are certainly standing behind you, patient, with our thoughts, concern, prayers and action. If you need someone to talk to advocates will gladly speak with you by phone. We are about exposing units who bully patients and using all available measures to make it clear to them that disrespect of patients is not acceptable behavior. We are getting better at dealing with these Bad Child units everyday, so hang in there as help is on the way! God Bless!

I must be missing something. This person is being Dismissed for not removing sunglasses? Or not going back to re-using a dialyzer? Or someother reason?

The physicians can do as they please, when they please and CMS will do nothing. ESRD is the wolf in sheeps clothes, this needs to stop.<
