Met with reporters, one patient came down to meet us and went with us to the interview. Also met with a family member whose husband has passed on and have secured her an attorney. It is nice to meet new members on every trip we make. Our family is growing.<
><
>It appears that we are going to have much help. It appears that the winds are blowing in our direction. Many of the Congress were upset and have been contacted at home since the trip. The documents and the patient dumpings and self policing are appalling to them. I am reluctant at this time to put the names down, but will when I can. The corruption and the lack of accountability is going to change, what is happening is disturbing and has been proven beyond a shadow of doubt. We have more that are coming forward and heavy lobbiest that are outraged. The Networks can keep their stars and report cards,,they know what I am talking about.<
><
>All that matters is getting this cleaned up. Senator Grassley can hang onto his GAO report, his indifference is clear. They were not willing to set up a meeting. Many of those that are helping us, are aware of his and others donations from the industry. This is going to get much more public awareness than I ever dreamed. It will rock the house...count on it.<
><
>Those patients deaths will not be in vain. It appears that the laws canl change and it will happen.<
><
>All I can say is Thank You God! But Thanks to all the
ave patients that have been fearful and still stood up to the plate, and faced the dragon 3 times a week and believed in us. <
><
>All I can say now, is there are many angered lobbiest and Reps. I will be busy, but will keep everyone posted.<

arlene you are doing a great job. i fully understand why you cannot give out names an details. i am sure a lot of people who are giving you imformation would get in troble if they were known. but the most important thing is the results. DE has gone a long way but has a lot more to go.

Sounds like we made another big dent. Yes, thank God! <
><
>I recently witnessed a doctor verbally abuse a patient when he questioned a tx error, refuse to order the staff to correct the error, thus putting the patient in furthur serious jeapordy of an unsafe tx, and threaten him to put black marks on his records if he complained blocking him from a transplant. <
>The doctor's loud, outraged harranging was done in the open unit for all to hear. The patient later said he was in pain while the doctor was verbally lambasting him with his bp going off the wall, his arm hurting from an uncomfortable stick that day and he felt like a chained animal while his doctor verbally tore into him with staff and patients listening to his private medical business. But I witnessed his ordeal and he
avely confronted the doctor about his arrogant, unprofessional behavior.<
><
>Yes, these type doctors think they are untouchable in the current system. They aren't current on their medical knowledge and hire staffs who are so poorly educated, they are easily
ainwashed to the company one size fits all profit mentality which is hurting and killing patients!<
><
>So, glad for the current effort in DC. Keep exposing team! The truth is getting out and will
ing justice. The patient loss is staggering. It must not continue! <

I guess sometimes bullies grow up to be doctors!!! It's all too easy to attack someone who is helpless. I hope that pt. gets a new doctor.<
><
>I'm so proud of Arlene and all the others who go to DC and stick up for pt.s and changes in dialysis. I'm really not a good "stand up in front of a crowd" type person so I'm all that more enamored of all that do this. As I hear and see all that is wrong though it gives me more and more nerve. Who knows, maybe someday soon I'll join the troops in DC. Till then, Kudos to all that went!!! Lin.

It appears that we will be going again in January or Fe
uary. I feel that changes are going to happen. It I do feel is on the front burner.<
><
>The physicians having to get paid to do what they were suppose to do, is a major step. But as always, until the ESRD Networks are gone with the ability to self police and lately it appears that they are a "secret society". This is what means the most to me. There needs to be a neutral enity that is fair to the patient and that their lives are worth more than not knowing what has happened to the ones that were dumped. It is a higher rate of minorities, and remember they arent sure what happened to those that are dumped. If they are in the hospital system, they are dead in a matter of time.I think it is shameful that the ESRD Networks have to have a survey to see how many are dumped, and the racial
eakdowns. THey are suppose to be contacted to help a patient when they are given their notice. Now they are clueless on how many or how many are still living. This ladies and gentlemen have been going on for 30 years. <
><
>I see CMS trying to make the changes, but it needs to realize that for 5 years the NETWORKs have caused many patients to be compromised and they need to be accountable. They did nothing to clean up their act since the last hearings. Now we have a paper trail on them for the last 5 years at least. We can do the 5% validation, but we can tell you 100% of our patients. Life is valuable and precious. You cant even get information on the boards and who they represent? This is putting the patient at risk? What is so secret when they are responsible for patient quality of care. They simply are the industry, and CMS needs to make them put down how many represent what companies. Why the reluctance?<
><
>Until they are gone with patient complaints, no patient is safe. Having the doctors paid for seeing their patients and not automatic is good for you the patient. Many times I hear that patients havent seen their doctors in 6 months or more. At least this is
ought to the light. I do believe that CMS is trying. I do believe that the ESRD Networks will undo any effort for patients. As
I have always said, until they are accountable and gone, NO patient can be free of retaliation and fear.<
><
>The injustice needs to stop! They need to be held accountable, they have known about the dumpings for years and cant even come up with accurate statistics that are 100%, only validate 5% and 7% didnt even respond. Many dont know that the clinics dont give out the information to the ESRD Networks, and the Networks statistics are always skewed, they do it voluntarily. You the patients are and have been at risk. They get stars and report cards on how well they turn in their unvalidated statistics. No one checks. The industry protects the industry, not you.<
><
>We are going back and educating lobbiest and the Reps. Hopefully, we will see that the ESRD Networks are gone with patient complaints and set up 100% validation. This information should be ready at the end of the year. Not having to go back and send out surveys to guess.<
><
>When CMS rids them of complaints, then I know that they are serious about you the patients. We have been invited to meet with many in January or Fe
uary, hopefully CMS will see that they need to do something for the patients and that is who the taxpayers pay for.<

Lin, you would be suprised on how I would be the last person that would get involved in something like this. We all are not seasoned activist, but have learned on the way. It has become a passion on doing what we feel is right.<
><
>One person could NEVER accomplish anything alone. This journey has been full of suprises and the network that we have helping us is mind boggling.People with different positions in life and realizing that we all lead off ones strength. The strongest horse always leads the group on their area of expertise.<
><
>Never in my wildest dreams ever would I be doing this. When you come to a closed road, there has always been a new friend to show us how to go around it or help lift us over it It has been many that have helped in 5 years. I cant wait until the day comes that everyone wont be afraid and can be recognized for what they have done. Many of us go and educate on other boards and speak out publically in churches, fax and email when asked. <
><
>The day when a patient can ask questions and be educated in their treatments and to have choices. Then we know that changes are here. We have fun and it always amazes me that we already know each other when we meet. We are friends for life, even beyond this journey.<
><
>A sense of humor and not taking ones self too serious has been our strong point. But knowing when to be serious and risk that persons displeasure with you. This journey has gotten pretty intense at times. But the end product is what we are all after. We all have skills and Marty even has printed flyers for Denver. Mistakes we have made and will continue to make, but the end result is what we all are after. We will make enemies also, this was the hardest for me to understand. I was taught just to do what you feel is right, no one told me about not being liked for it. Then after awhile it just rolls off your back, you realize your not alone. Lin, I am sure that you and I will meet one day. Your input on the board is really helpful.<
