Raised ethical questions?  If the deceased individual raises objections I might worry.

I'm a living donor and haven't missed my spare.  Why would a deceased donor miss anything?

I guess it is "ethical" to let people suffer.   :banghead:

I have heard many people say they do not want it to be default because they worry the hospitals won't try so hard to save their lives so perhaps these "ethical" reasons have more to do with the living before they are deceased?

I think some people worry way too much!

I found whole articles that show that people really believe this. If we want something like this organ-donor proposal to go through, first we need to address and educate the fears! Not that groups and foundations haven't tried but the word needs to get out more about the facts and falsehoods and the difference! But it seems that a lot of the American public has lost faith in so much and are always suspecting scams or falsehoods. It is a hard world we live in today where it is so hard to trust and innocent people suffer. So many people waiting on the waiting list and not enough people donating their organs when they are going to waste and not being used.

Also there is more than just fear! Another aspect to the "won't be as willing to save me" is the part about when is a person fully brain dead. There has been stories of people who were not taken off life support when the doctors were pushing for it (even in Canada) and the person had very little brain activity but afterwards did recover fully and are alive and well today. If the plug had been pulled .. well these are the types of stories that are the hospitals and not all hospitals are that way. For me, yes I would like my family to hold off on pulling the plug but at the same time I am still an (future) organ donor. It all comes down to communication with family!

Perhaps you should write a Facts and Myths article on the front page of this site to get it out there?

Ah I see it! Thanks!

Hey will it get pushed down or always stay on top so people see it? Any chance of a link in the side menu or the top menu on the front page? Just (another) suggestion. ;)

Ok, I redid the information webpage: http://www.dialysisethics2.org/index.php/Information/information-links.html

It can be reached by either clicking on the information links in the front page top menu, the side main menu, or a clickable image I put on the left side.

I also added info about living donor organizations.
