First of all Anna is the American Nephrology Nurses Association, which my question is do you bill?<
>Second of all that is only a small portion of your bill. Look at the bill.<

i do not know where you got your data from but if you are quoting the cost you are a way off. you must be quoting the billing not the true costs to the clinic. example needles cosy 40 cents a piece or 80 cents a pair. tubing about 2 dollars a set. tape a few cents. single use dialyzer less than 15 dollars. in fact the costs for materials for 8 hours slow dialysis is about 30 dollars no reuse and a high flux dialyzer.

We pay less than $25.00 for a high flux synth kidney, and that's in Canadian dollars

I don't see any of the IV meds listed on there. <
>So you get extra charges for EPO, Zemplar, Carnitor, Hectorol, Ferrlicit, Infed, and any others you may recieve while on dialysis. That is why they measure every drop given so they can charge Medicare and your private insurance company. That is where the real profit is.

Let's not forget the major player's also own their own blood labs where our labwork is sent off to, even though they operate under a different name. Received Davita's newsletter urging all patient's to write their congressman to raise the reimbursement rate (I think they are cutting and pasting the same article over and over in every newsletter). Shameless.

co. is paying over 13k a month for my txs.. Note I said paid, because last time I mentioned this people doubted it and said although they might be charged this amount could not possibly pay that much. I keep the EOBs, and yes they are getting PAID 13k, so if the above costs are correct United Healthcare is getting screwed! This is why I don't feel sorry for the dialysis companies, nor do I believe they are "strapped" financially! Lin.

Lin - your unit will love when you hit the 30 months on dialysis mark and Medicare becomes the Primary and your private insurance changes to secondary!!!

they ever figure out a way for dialysis pts. to do dialysis at home cheaper and as good, the units will be hurting; that's my dream! Gee, they can make a cell phone that takes and sends pics, why not a dialysis machine that fits in my pocket lol Lin.
