--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whatever happened to our rights guaranteed under the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution and all of the following Amendments to this law? Our ancestors fought the Revolutionary War so that we may have these unalienable rights and to free us from the bounds of England. Then in 1864, President Lincoln freed all the slaves, making this a free country. Then the riots and actions of the 1960's further guaranteed civil rights for all. Our government was an integral part in gaining these freedoms for every race, color and creed within the US. <
><
>Now they are choosing to turn their backs on a set population of the US and allow an industry to control the very life of this population. I find this appalling and it makes me ashamed to be a US citizen. I always thought that my government would be there to fight for me, as it has fought for others before me who were oppressed. But instead they have chosen to ignore and allow industry to control my life and instill such fear into me that I am afraid to complain about any issue without fear of retaliation from the Unit. <
><
>Where is the justice within our government when they sit back and allow this to happen? Whose pockets are being lined as a result of my fears? Surely industry isn't the only one? Who is corrupt within our government that is allowing this to happen? What's next? Taking away my freedom of speech, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Because they surely have a hold on my life!:">

you more observer. PTSW only shows up for the most part when INDUSTRY has once again showed themselves as to what they really are. Cruel..heartless...non-caring assh...s . The unit he/she supposedly works at, remembering from the past posts, is always warm-friendly-perfect-caring-never at fault-clean---etc.....sorry don't buy it, the only place I know that is that way is my Veternarians office sad to say.

any physician has the right not to accept a patient into his (her) practice; however, once you are a treating physician, you have a legal and ehical responsibility to care for that patient and to "First Do No Harm"; dumping critically ill and vulnerable patients is unconscienable and could result in ethical charges and potentially loss of licensure

So touching and inspiring. Thanks much, from the wife of a patient who was "dumped" and the mother of an adult child who recently learned that she has "kidney problems".

As a new poster -- Oh, so I wasn't wrong about that gathered from ptsw's posts.<

>Reminder/suggestion: "Freedom of speech" is extended to all, including those who do not agree with us. <

>The best ways to deal with ptsw are: (1) respect his/her right to post...post...post (2) ignore the posts, and (3) use our energies in concert with those who share our positions and plight.<

I am reading on the same page as the poster Dr. John, if the nephrologist has released the patient then the nephrologist license should be revoked.

cruel, heartless or mean. I am just stating the facts as I know them. I don't feel that it is wrong to state the facts in a forum such as this. I have had my own experiences with discharged patients and I feel it is a death sentence that the nephrologists are putting onto the patients. Discharge is the last last last choice when it comes to dialysis patients and should only be used when there is a risk of harm involved. The problem remains, what can dialysis staff do with patients who threaten harm and/or actually harm staff? In the case you have written about, there is no good reason (as I am reading) for the patient to have been discharged. The question is, what can be done?

"Like me, you could.....be unfortunate enough to stumble upon a silent war. The trouble is that once you see it, you can't unsee it. And once you've seen it, keeping quiet, saying nothing, becomes as political an act as speaking out. Either way, you're accountable."
