Is citric acid the chemical that is used in reuse with renalin that has been dicussed before as being questionable in safety? Used in excessive amounts?

Citric acid when heated to 85 degrees celsius is used as a disinfectant in re-use machines. I know Fresenius markets a machine called the DRS-4 that uses it, and there are likely other companies doing the same.<

Citric acid is a disinfectant for dialyzers. It must be stored in the dialyzer at a high temperature for a specific amount of time. At least 24 hours for it to be effective. It is not used with peracetic acid. Problem is the elevated temperature causes the potting material to crack. Therefore the number of reuses is not extremely high.

Speaking of re-use, saw that the patient after me was on re-use #58 and spoke to another patient that was on re-use# in the 90's. This should be CRIMINAL. Medicare Fraud at a minimum!!!
