--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i have been following (and been arguing with) a discussion in the administrators forum website, located at BRUMLEY.COM. a "nurse" on there had been
agging about how she shorts patients on the epogen amt. so she/he could stretch the medication. this THING (can't call it a person!) said that they would even push air bubbles or saline and call it epogen. i got mad of course and wrote back (my posting is called -left behind) ANYWAY..i was told later that he/she was not actually helping the company as i thought and was helping the pt. because of the effects of epogen. now i am really confused!!

We have been hearing from some workers in different parts of the United States, that some have been pushing in saline as epo and billing Medicare.<
><
>It is under investigation now,but will post the finding on the 2567's when we get the information. One clinic was shut down. But in fairness we have requested the survey report. Then we will post all of the report.<
><
>We need to update the Public Records,as we now have new surveys. The wrong doers only get caught and investigated when they are turned in. It also takes someone who physically calls the dept of health when a needless death happens in the unit. Many people have provided us with information in order to turn in the wrong doings. Remember someone dies in the unit, they do not have to report their error. A patient is merely sent to the funeral home of choice.

I am pasting this on the educational page. You should be able to get an answer from FRN.

In that same thread over at DO Administrators board there's a Jan 28th post entitled Partners in Fraud. A RN says staff don't bother to wash their hands, because they don't have time due to the high work ratio. And they are not administering meds correctly to make $$ for the company. Just as she said they are PARTNERS IN FRAUD, because they are angry at the govt. for the high work ratios. If the companies are going to work them to death and the govt's not going to do anything about it, then they're not going to care and will just cut corners and do what the companies say whether it hurts the patients or not. That's pretty sick, but at leaste someone is admitting the fraud that we patients have been screaming about all this time.

- just thought i would mention something i found real funny on that same web-site. a few of them had been arguing back and forth --then it got "nasty" with the name calling, etc. AND THEN... someone said for them to growup, and "no wonder those people at dialysis ethics don't like us! really found that funny since that was on the administrator forum where the "professionals" post!

RN's who do not give the correct amount of medication to the patients and who admit they do not to get back at the company and the goverment are in jeapordy of losing their RN liciense if they do not follow Dr and unit policy for these medications. If the RN's are that unhappy and can prove it is fraud, they need to report it to the State and the Goverment. Also patients who know it is going on can also report it. <
>RN's who knowenly put their licienses on the line like this are VERY foolish! :">
