--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have MPGN and have already rejected a tranplant-- the MPGN ate the kidney. My doctors think I should try for another transplant, but I don't see the point when it's extremely likely that the MPGN will also destroy another kidney... it only took 3 years for it to kill the transplant.<
><
>If the MPGN could be gotten rid of, I'd be willing to try it again, but I just don't see the point of getting another kidney when my body is just going to chew it up. The last year of the transplant was sheer hell, and I don't want to go through anything like that again. Has anyone else with MPGN had a rejected transplant, and have you gotten another kidney?

I hope someone can answer your question for you. I have a related question. The doctors I've had have acted like I'll just be on dialysis a little while and then I can get a xplant. From what I've read, some people have long lasting xplants and others have nothing but trouble from them and before they know it they're back on dilaysis. I even know several people who waited for what they felt was the right time for an xplant, got good matches and then everything went wrong and they died. They'd still be alive today if they had continued on dialysis. So why do doctors assume that xplant is best for everyone?

i will give you my opinion of a xplant. if you have had cancer it is a no no. there are a lot of problems with the anti rejection drugs. in my opinion if you can get good home dialysis and do noctornal you are better off on dialysis but if you go to a jiffy lube you are better off with a xplant. each case has to be decided on lts own merits.

for different folks! I've looked at all the risks and benefits and decided to stay on hd., at least for now.<
>They keep trying to sell me on the idea of a txp. but I don't have a good feeling about it (for me!) and I try to listen to my gut instincts as they always serve me well.<
>If you ask a lot of questions but are still confused about getting a txp. it may not be right for you, or just not right at this point in time. When it feels good making the decision it will be the right time. Lin.

same thing here Lin. I just don't think a Transplant is the way to go for me.
