MY LAST POST WAS 3/18/03. SEVERAL OF THE "REGULARS" INFORMED ME OF WHAT THE PURPOSE OF THE SITE IS. SINCE THEN, THERE HASN'T BEEN MANY INTERESTING POSTS TO READ. <
><
>I THINK MANY PEOPLE WERE INTIMIDATED BY READING THE INSTRUCTIONS OF A FEW. I HOPE I AM WRONG.<
><
>I IMPLORE EVERYONE TO POST ANY AND ALL OF THEIR IDEAS, THOUGHTS, OR CONCERNS. MANY OF US FIND THEM INTERESTING AND VERY EDUCATIONAL. <
><
>STAY WELL.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

is everything! Many will try to read between the lines of a post to determine what the poster's intention is; sometimes they are right, sometimes not.<
>It's ok to for instance post that you go to a nice unit, if it's to give hope, or for comparison sake to let those in a bad unit know that there is hope for a good one to exist where they are too. It is met with distaste however if others perceive a post to be saying that because the poster has it good, others are not believed.<
>If you want to post on the positives it's okay, as long as you resect that not all have positive experiences, and ultimately this board exists to take all the negatives and turn them into positives!!! Be thankfull if you have it good, and work so that ALL can have good things to post. We're all in this together and those who are getting good dialysis txs. have the strength to help those who can't help themselves, or are just too afraid to speak up! Lin. (cherish the good I have, but won't be happy till others have the same!)

that Shirts = board basher. You give yourself away in your words. Your concern is not for this cause and this board - it's for yourself. This board is not for wimps and whiners - it's for those who see the corruption in the dialysis Industry and who are not quitting until it's fully exposed and eliminated. So keep disrupting and showing yourself for who you are. "You" may run off some weak willed posters, but they are not very useful anyway. The dye has been cast the line has been drawn - only those who are steadfast and of moral conciensce will back this cause - we don't need the rest.

of the whole matter Shirts is that there are way more "bad" units then good ones. The people at the bad ones can't speak out for the fear of repercussions. Look how many have done so in the past and had nothing but problems and threats when they did. Of course the majority of those that are fortunate to be in the good ones, are standing behind us in the battle here to make everyone have the care they deserve. <
>You have asked in the past for people to post their "good" experiences/visits/treatments, is it not obvious by the lack of response to that, they are few and far between.

I had a problem when I first came to post here too. It took a while for others to believe I was here not just because I was in a good unit, but rather in spite of it.<
>I'm sticking around until being in a good unit is the rule, rather than the exception.<
>If you are here JUST to post the good, it's not going to "fly". <
>I'm in it for the long haul because I trully believe that those in the good units MUST help all the others! Those people are like suppressed individuals living under the rule of an evil dictator!<
>Shirts, if you trully want to help say so, and ask how you can help, plain and simple. Lin.

This board was set up due to many patients being fearful of retaliation and no where to go.We had no patients who were trusting of the industry until this came along. It taught them that re-use is a choice and they have somewhere to go if they question and are thrown out of a clinic. To have a place to go that will fight back and protect those who are being abused and having no legal rights in many of these clinics. We are making a difference, one that is saving lives.<
><
>This is a different board with a different focus. The focus is one that a patient can be aware and through the awareness can protect themselves or their loved ones.If they are violated we have attorneys that have filed suit against the wrong doers. This has never happened before. <
><
>If you are in a good unit, that is great. Only what is a good unit? Are you allowed to question? Are you allowed to do non-reuse? Do you have trained staff and are not running in a unit that isnt to busy and has a 3 to one work ratio for staff? Do you have a clean unit? When was your unit inspected last? Do you have rights in your unit? Is your unit clean? Just having a new clean unit isnt what you should consider as one.<
><
>Not for once will I apoligize for speaking the truth as I see it. I worked the trenches of this field as have many healthcare workers,we knew that this could not continue as we were part of a money maker and not healthcare. We were outraged and collected information for the Senate hearings and have most recently been working with journalist to get this out.<
><
>It has been about lack of training of workers who know about as much as the patients. As one lawyer stated to us that an untrained worker can harm a patient and everyone is clueless. <
><
>This site has alot to be proud of,it may not be industry friendly by all means, but it makes you think. It is alot of work to be done and alot has changed since we have started. It was like all of a sudden those patients and workers in bad units realized what has been going on.<
><
>We have come far and the training has saved many lives, when you at least can question your healthcare and feel like you can protect yourself until the laws come.<
><
>If you dont mind that the money that was intended for patient care goes not to the patient, but to investors and one size fits all regardless, then you see no need to change the current system. I personally get that calls for help when a patient is retaliated against and is threatened of dumping or is let to die. This has happened and is a standard way of practice in many units. Many patients are not content to let the abuses continue and dont want to be "people pleasers" in order to think that will get them better health. It isnt going to happen, some chose to live this way, others want the best care that they are entitled to. These are the people we fight for and will continue to fight for. We are making great headway and will continue to forge forward for much needed changes and we will win this. But this was never about being popular, its about doing what is right.<

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Like I'm sitting in my unit watching the RN straighten up the supply cart. I wonder what's up as it stays a mess and he is making it really neat. Another patient wonders the same thing and asks what's up? Having an inspection? Well sure they are. Funny how inspections do not take them by surprise. They know just when they are going to take place. They may as well have an appointment. What a crooked system this is. The right hand washes the left. They just view inspections as a nusiance. As long as they get things straightend up or hidden before the inspectors come, then the inspectors can say they didn't see anything. What corruption! And that is why patients are speaking out and are not going to be silent. I feel sorry for the patients who don't have the emotional and moral constitution to stand up to this.

"Like me, you could.....be unfortunate enough to stumble upon a silent war. The trouble is that once you see it, you can't unsee it. And once you've seen it, keeping quiet, saying nothing, becomes as political an act as speaking out. Either way, you're accountable."
