Forcing a physician to accept a patient is equal to servitude (or something like that). There is a case that basically says a physican can not be forced to accept a client.

This field of medicine is Medicare dollar driven. A physician should be well aware of the $$$$,and a wonderful living, unlike other physicians in other fields.<
><
>To have a patient dismissed due to no reason is the issue here. I have worked with this particular patient for along time and will go to bat for her. She is not a complainer and the gentlest soul in the world. <
><
>This group of physicians and Collom and Carney will need to be the poster child of this movement. They are well documented as is CMS and the Network. All they had to do was do what is right. But they felt that they could violate the rights of the patients, that is a seperate issue and one that is going to trial...all they had to do was respect this patients rights. Explain to me why the Network found nothing and I have 14 faxes from patient? The Network went in there and told the patients that re-use was a wonderful thing, that they can safely use the dializers for 50 times? This person appeared to follow the corporate line. I had hopes that this would turn out fair for the patient, only the patient was dumped and the others now the company knows who they are. I am devastated. I have tried to reason, beg and plead, they feel that they could do as they pleased. Violating ones rights cause they have, doesnt mean they can.<
><
>So if I am understanding you correctly, if a physician doesnt want blacks in his unit, they should be able to chose? If a patient is sick and is dying, the physician can walk away cause he can? Can a physician take Federal dollars and tell the government what s/he can do and dump patients like garbage? That they can pay for the service, but the government is dictated the terms to? The government has created many spoiled
ats on Federal dollars. When does an employee tell the boss what they will and wont do. There is a responsibility to patients if you take Federal dollars. If not then they dont deserve to get the big bucks or doctors. Remember first do no harm. This is patient abandonment and who owns the paper work. This clinic and doctors are not as smart as they think they are. They have screwed up Big Time.If you accept medicare dollars in anyother field of medicine you have rules to follow. In dialysis you tell the government what you want to do, even better do as you please, as the industry is self serving and self policing. Servatude for th physician...please!<
><
>This is close and personal with me and I will do what I have to do to ensure that this doesnt happen again. It is going to the streets..three black patients have been dumped and we are working with other organizations to get this out SOON! Let the public and the courts decide. If I have my way we will go after the license's of those physicians and are educating the press in that area. So much for the horse and pony show. We should vote them out...Arlene<

Isn't the right (assuming it is a right) of doctor to see who he wants, superceded by the right of a patient to well, uh LIVE! I seem to recall a law that states "Thou shall not kill". I don't believe it states "Thou shall not kill except in the case of doctor, who well just doesn't feel like working on a patient because he is annoyed with them, or just plain doesn't like them, or just doesn't wanna"

icon ptsw that you put with the ? of Why this patient was dismissed and put it else where. This is not a laughing / joking matter and I am sure of it were you in their situation, you would find it as aggrivating and insulting as I did. Granted this board is for all to have their believes -ideas-grief-frustration vented, however I don't find that very appropriate when we are dealing with the trouble of a patient being discharged and dumped again by the almight industry.

Have you ever noticed how any time the Network gets slammed here that ptsw appears? My guess is that ptsw is not only network affiliated, but totally industry! Look at ptsw posts. Says alot. <

>Maybe ptsw needs to get their head out of the sand and clean that
.... stuff off their nose? Reality is that the freight train is going very fast and is out of control! So hang on for the ride!
