Hi Everyone,

It has been a long time since I posted a message and I hope all is well.
For those of you who are not aware of who I am, On July 25th, 2004 I became the first dialysis patient to ever complete an Ironman triathlon.
In 2005 I completed 4 races and in 2006 I put together a triathlon team.
I am proud to tell everyone that my story and accomplishment inspired another dialysis patient to participate in my triathlon team.

After my accomplishment at Lake Placid I wanted to find a way to give back to other dialysis patients so I created the Shad Ireland Foundation.
http://www.shadirelandfoundation.org/ We provide fitness and educational grants to dialysis patients. We have given 26 grants to both adults and children in 7 different states. The foundation is a non profit organization and has its 501c3 status.

My book "A Promise Made- In Pursuit of the Iron Dream" was released this week and I am proud to tell you that we are donating a significant portion of the proceeds back to the foundation so that we can continue to fun both the fitness and educational grant programs.

for more information or to purchase a book to support the work of the Shad Ireland Foundation please visit our websites at http://www.ironshad.com/ or http://www.shadirelandfoundation.org/

Wow I think that is great!! Especially for the younger patients! I remember going to College and was sooo worried that my new transplant would fail and that my college loan would be a huge waste of time!! I ended up worrying so much that my grades suffered and I didn't get my diploma and then my kidney did fail!

The Shad Ireland Foundation and the fitness and educational grants are a great idea!

Right now my computer is down because of a virus or hard drive problem or else I would put a link on my site but I will put a link on my forums and tell 2 other sites about it!
