I have been working on it with Arlene, and we had trouble getting the graphics to e-mail back and forth, so we had to rely on snail mail. I mailed my final version to her last Friday. I tried to post it to the website, but all the fancy graphics wouldn't come through. The header is graphics that contains the name, address, phone, e-mail and website address of the organization. It has a fancy border around it. Below is the text and the graphics didn't come through on it either. Arlene is adding the date DEO was developed and the i's are star bullets. Arlene should have more information on how it will be distributed, etc.<
><
>Dialysis Ethics Organization (DEO) is a group of concerned medical worker, patients, their families, and others who are working together to improve the dialysis experience for all.<
><
>DEO was developed in 19XX and was responsible for the Senate Hearings in Washington, DC on June 26, 2000. Additionally, DEO has been instrumental in the following ways:<
><
>i        Successfully advocated for patients who have their civil, human and patient rights violated.<
>i        Collected documents of various abuses in the dialysis industry, medical studies against the reuse of artificial kidneys, the chemicals used, and are responsible for various lawsuits.<
>i        Advocated for the right to fully informed consent and education about the reuse of artificial kidneys, the chemicals, dialysis, and to have properly educated and fully trained staff working with patients in a safe and clean environment.<
>i        Advocates for the rights of patients to choose the dialysis modality that best suits their individual needs, whether it be in-unit, home-hemodialysis, CAPD, peritoneal or slow nocturnal.<
>i        Works to get you, the patient, off the Stock Market and restore your rights as a patient.<
>i        Works with well known journalists, TV News Magazines and other organizations to help inform the public about the abuses in the dialysis industry and especially to the patients.<
>i        DEO?s Website, http://www.dialysisethics.org/ provides a wide variety of topics for dialysis patients all over the world. Its patient?s talking to patient?s, asking questions and providing emotional support to each other. The Education Section contains information about common dialysis treatment problems and questions are answered. The FYI Section contains medical studies and articles of interest to patients concerning the reuse of artificial kidneys, the chemicals and more. These articles can be downloaded and shared with others. The Memorial Page is for those who wish to share memories on those lost on dialysis. Alternative Dialysis Modalities is for those interested in learning more about other dialysis options. Patient Stories is for those who wish to share their stories, both good and bad, of life on dialysis.<

I am posting the Test from the alternative flyer that will be posted next week. We decided to let all of you have a choice between 2 as they were both good. The graphics, border and highlights do not show up on this either but at least you can read the text and decide which you want to download when they become available. <

> Vancouver, WA. 98662<
>Who we are:<
>Dialysis Ethics Organization (Est. 199 is a group of concerned medical workers, patients, their families and others who are working together to improve the dialysis experience for all. <
>Our organization was responsible for the Senate Hearings in Washington D.C. on June 26th, 2000.<
><
>Our Organization has been instrumental in the following ways.<
>1). DEO has successfully advocated for patients who have had their patient, civil, and human rights violated. We advocate until all issues are resolved and provide legal counsel when needed. Any patient complaints handled by the local ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease) Networks contracted under the CMS (Medicare) are not handled anonymously. These Networks are boarded by the dialysis industry and almost unanimously side with the Unit/ Company. Your complaint is sent back to your unit with your full name.<
>2). DEO has collected documents of various abuses in the dialysis industry, medical studies against the reuse of the artificial kidneys, the chemicals used, and are responsible for various lawsuits present and pending. <
>3). DEO advocates for the rights of patients to choose the dialysis modality that best suits their individual needs, whether it be in-unit, home-hemo, CAPD, peritoneal, or slow nocturnal. The right to fully informed consent and education about the reuse of artificial kidneys, the chemicals, dialysis, and to have properly educated and fully trained staff working with patients in a safe and clean environment.<
>4). DEO is working to get you, the patient, off the Stock Market. Did you know that your Nephrologist receives up to $100.000 for each patient when they sign a contract with a dialysis company to provide you, their patient, with dialysis services? No other medical specialty can profit like this from their patients. This would be a violation of the Stark and anti-kickback laws that apply to everyone else. DEO is working to change these laws so that your Nephrologist can get back to being your Dr., concerned only with your health and well being. Not as an investor concerned with cutting supplies and staff training costs to improve the profit margin from the "Cash Cows." (Patients).<
>5). Presently DEO is working with various well-known journalists, TV News Magazines, and other organizations to help inform the public of the abuses in the dialysis industry and to patients in particular.<
><
>Our Web site: http://www.dialysisethics.org/ <
> We offer General Discussions in a wide variety of topics with dialysis patients all over the world. It's patients talking to patients, asking questions and encouraging each other. The Education section is where common dialysis treatment problems and questions are answered. The FYI section has Medical studies and articles of interest to patients concerning the reuse of artificial kidneys, the chemicals, and more. These can be downloaded and printed to share with others. The Memorial page is for those who wish to share memories of those lost on dialysis. Alternative Dialysis Modalities is for those interested in learning more about other dialysis options. Patient Stories: this is for those who wish to share their stories, both good and bad, of life on dialysis.<

under the FYI....!

"Like me, you could.....be unfortunate enough to stumble upon a silent war. The trouble is that once you see it, you can't unsee it. And once you've seen it, keeping quiet, saying nothing, becomes as political an act as speaking out. Either way, you're accountable."
