...ran past your prescribed tx time? For the last five months I have been getting extra time added to my run time and my Dr. has nothing to do with it.<
><
>I dialyze for four hours and fifhteen minutes. Last Friday I was ran for four and a half hours. When my wife inquired about the extra time they said they didn't know and the tech who started me wasn't there which was a lie because she never left!<
><
>Is this a common thing in dialysis?

Did you switch machines five months ago? Some machines stop the clock during an alarm - conductivity out of range for instance - while other machines will keep the clock running. For instance on the Cobe Century III if you have a four hour run, your run will be over 240 minutes after your run begins. On a Fresenius your run could be over 250 minutes after it begins depending on the alarms during treatment. The Aksys also stops the clock during the backflush process so that a four hour run would require being hooked to the machine for over 270 minutes.
"Like me, you could.....be unfortunate enough to stumble upon a silent war. The trouble is that once you see it, you can't unsee it. And once you've seen it, keeping quiet, saying nothing, becomes as political an act as speaking out. Either way, you're accountable."
